Dr. Gregory Calkins MD Kamuela HI

With over forty years of experience as a Board-Certified Emergency Physician, Dr. Gregory P. Calkins knows exactly what’s at stake when it comes to your health. While his career has been defined by treating acute illness in busy ERs across the country, his true passion has always been the people behind the charts. Dr. Calkins is now bringing his vast experience to Primary Care with a singular goal: prevention. He believes that the best way to treat a crisis is to stop it before it starts. A proud graduate of the University of Michigan Medical School, Dr. Calkins prides himself on offering compassionate care that provides patients with a deeper perspective on their health, helping them stay healthy, informed, and out of the hospital.

Dr. Calkins has also read extensively on recent research in the field of longevity and extended health span, and incorporating this knowledge into patient care for increased wellness forms a large part of his practice interest. Outside of medical interests, Dr. Calkins remains physically active. He is an accomplished competitive sailor and, in addition to enjoying our beautiful ocean, he enjoys hiking, backpacking, and horseback riding. He and his wife regularly make time to go hiking and riding in the mountains of the western US.
